The local rock scene is as strong in Savannah as any city I’ve ever lived in.  The talent and the fervor for electric music is on display every week at various venues across town.  Sadly though, the number of local venue options is quite limited for larger acts.  Thankfully, on May 16th another stage opened it’s doors courtesy of Aura Fest and District Live by way of the Riverside Takeover.

This one-day festival featured Savannah mainstays such as The Maxines and Candy Truck, while also bringing in heavy hitters He is Legend and Evergreen Terrace from North Carolina and Jacksonville, FL, respectively.  Cancer Bats, Fury in Few, and Strawberry Girls rounded out a day filled with heavy rock n’ roll.

Each band showcased their own unique style on one of the biggest stages in town, making the most of a top-tier PA system, dynamic lighting, and a beautiful space adorned with guitars along the perimeter.  Evergreen Terrace brought so much intensity that the crowd broke through the barriers and found themselves on stage for a first-person perspective that only a show like this could offer.  By the time He is Legend began reprising their entire “I am Hollywood” album, the venue was nearly full, and the crowd was electric.  It was a fitting scene for such a raucous rock affair, and Reverie’s own Olivia Ludwick was able to capture various moments throughout the 8 hour day.  See galleries from each band below, and for more music events such as this, head on over to the Concert Calendar to see what’s on the horizon!
